Latest 4.2.4

Just running an 8 track recording session. Been going 110 minutes now, buffer on 512.

Could just be a weird thing in my system.

We have Melodyne 4 installed, present on some sessions I tested today, not present on others. It did not appear to make any difference, once I had frozen audio tracks which had Altiverb instances, all sessions were able to run on the lowest buffer size for 20 mins or more with no errors or CPU spikes.

I don’t think it’s melodyne anymore.

Really hard to nail down what’s actually causing the 9093 error. I can’t reproduce it and I don’t have time to put my plugins back one by one.

I have disabled spindump and carrying on.

So my 4TB Raid 0 7200rpm spinners took a dump on me last night. Switched over to an SSD for now. Everything is blazing fast.

I think the one of the disks in the Raid array was failing and taking everything else with it.

Yep -- that is the problem with RAID 0 that stripes for performance without parity information, so it has zero fault tolerance. Good riddance, SSD storage is so blazing fast now.

I work almost exclusively at 96k on my 5,1 MacPro HDX system and I have identified Sonarworks, Autotune, Soothe and Gullfoss as leading causes of CPU spikes at low buffer settings. Sonarworks is by far the worst. By far. I can have one single stereo master track in a session and it spikes at a buffer of less than 512.

FWIW I have not identified Altiverb as a source of spikes on my system.

Hey Will, that's really interesting. I used to have Sonarworks running on my master output but got so annoyed having to constantly turn it on/off (I would forget a lot of the time!) that I now have a dedicated Mac Mini running Sonarworks with a UA Twin running between my monitor controller and speakers.

Perhaps not the best converters but makes my life a whole bunch easier.

Thankfully I'm yet to experience the Mac Mini to have a crash and for the speakers to output full scale noise. I should probably build in a fail safe for that...

Guys,

I think I may have cracked this...

Mixing all day, different sessions, 128 buffer(!), session data importing, bouncing, recording, you name it.

Not a single error...
