Found unusable GUI lag with both versions of 12.8.2. The metering on the Mix window is where I see the issue. Sort of thing one might see where a lot of processing is going on in the background such as relinking files (which it isn't).

Just reinstalled 12.8.1 and the same Session runs fine.

Bit of a shame as I was enjoying the bug fixes and new MIDI features!

For the record I'm on 10.10.5 with a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.

I would suggest a clean install, but I guess it wont work, I already tried reinstalling Sierra 10.12.6 (and High Sierra) and PT 12.8.2R2 from scratch to end with the same GUI lag. I opened a support case, but since I dont have an active support plan (just active update plan), my case was dropped.

If you have an active support plan, please open a support case, we need to make sure Avid is aware of the issue, and acknowledge it. If they don't, we won't get any solution. Plus Ideascale would be a good start too.

Yosemite 10.10.x is unsupported as per system requirements, 10.11 and 10.12 only.

Just adding a data point:

Mac Pro 6,1
macOS 10.12.6
Pro Tools 12.8.1 = FAST SCROLL IN MIX WINDOW

Mac Pro 6,1
macOS 10.12.6
Pro Tools 12.8.2 = SLUGGISH SCROLL IN MIX WINDOW

trashed all prefs. I love some of the fixes in 12.8.2, but I need the zippy GUI more.

To all ppl with the GUI lag issue:

If you do have an active support plan, please open a support case, we need to make sure Avid is aware of the issue, and acknowledge it. If they don't, we won't get any solution.

(Ideascale would be a good start too, if anyone has already started a thread, please share the link)

Done.

It always amazes me, when I speak with support agents, how unaware they are of the issues brought up on this forum. This place could well be an excellent resource for them if utilized properly.
I directed a support agent to this link and he was genuinely surprised to hear about the issue. I have several peers who use PT on a regular basis and the majority of them are experiencing GUI lag.

i beleive it is because there is just too much BS to sift through and that most issues are operator related .. not saying this one is but most .. and not defending avid just sayin'

Avid is aware of this FYI. No need to specifically "get their attention".
