Post Will Pro Tools 10 solve my 9.0.5 crash problem ?

Help , please !! I'm having repeated crashes with Pro Tools 9.0.5 on an HD2 Accel system with new Avid i/o . Mac Quad core Intel Xeon with OSX 10.6.8 . In the middle of sessions , sometimes when doing nothing , away from computer , the ball starts spinning and I have to Force quit and restart computer. Are other people experiencing this? I've heard there have been some compatibility issues since PT 8 . Will upgrading to PT 10 solve this problem ? By the way , I've had a tech do disk verification , check preferences, and have tried multiple drives , and reseating the digilink cables at both connections. Thanks in advance for any help or advice !

if the session is encroaching on the ram limits of the software that will not change with Pro Tools 10.

VI performance seems about the same as in Dismal compared to other VI hosting applications.

I think we are all looking forward to AAX VI's

But if the session in question is a Mix session with limited or no VI's then maybe its a ram usage issue.

My PT9 system was fairly stable and my pt 10 seems a tad bit more stable. . but I definitely have had a couple crashes in the last few days. . but not too many.

I don't believe that is entirely true. Ableton Live runs out of juice quicker than PT. I haven't used Digital Performer in a long time but it wasn't any better. Of course Logic and Reason are the most conservative when it comes to CPU usage.

well ok then... good to know VI usage not as bad as everyone makes is sound comparatively.

I upgraded to 905 at the same time I went to lion, and had MANY fewer crashes, and the ones I had were also less severe. On 10.6.8, after a crash, if I tried to relaunch without restarting, it would kernel panic.

After Lion/905, an occasional crash if I pushed the rig too hard and swapped VIs during playback, but I could always relaunch PT without restarting.

Am now on 10.

I was experiencing a lot of issues with 9.0.5 running on Lion. Installing PT10 cleared these. I have subsequently carried out a clean Lion/PT10 install on a new hard disk and it runs even faster and no issues so far.
