Strike doesn't play back was was exported as MIDI??!?

I have an M-Audio 88 key MIDI controller hooked up through an MBox to PT 8.0 LE... I have the expansion pack for the instruments.

When I export MIDI from Strike, I can drag the MIDI that is generated over to the instrument track and it is there plain as day. When I do a playback it either doesn't play anything back or it plays something that I didn't export.

How do you get this thing to simply play back the midi that is in the track instead of whatever it feels like? This seems overly difficult for something that should be entirely intuitive???
