Default attaching an external USB preamp (Aardvark) to divi 001

Hey.

I'm having trouble connecting the preamp to the digi 001 interface; getting no signal at all. Of course I need to do to boost the signal for inputs 3 and 4 at the back of the interface, and I understand I need to configure this somehow in the I/O settings, but It's unclear how.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Giles

To connect a preamp to the 001, you need to connect via line level IO. That means a TRS or XLR from the preamp to a TRS input on the 001. If this preamp only has a USb connection, its not going to work

What exact model "USB preamp" are you talking about?

The old Aardvark "USB3" is a USB audio interface, although it had an internal preamp(s?) I am pretty sure it offers no direct preamp outputs and has no internal hardware/monitoring or stand alone mode or other way to get audio out of it except using it as an interface with a DAW, not what you want if you are trying to use a 001.

Hey Darryl.

That's exactly what I have, the ole Aardvark usb3. It does actually have two inputs and two outputs, but I'm just not getting a signal on them.

I'm sure it can be done.

I am sure it cannot be done. That box is not a stand-alone preamp and has no internal/hardware mixer capability. The only way to get any signal from the inputs to those outputs is connecting this box as an interface to a DAW.
