Default How to select and process multiple regions, not contiguous

I have an audio track with many regions of talking separated by regions of silence. I would like to select all the regions with talking and normalize them all at the same time with the Audio Suite Normalize plugin.

Can this be done with Pro Tools LE 7.3.1 on Windows?

If that can't be done I guess I could select all the regions and normalize and maybe it wouldn't have any effect on the silent regions.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Use the Object Grabber tool to make this kind of selection. It lets you select multiple, noncontiguous regions.

Hope that helps.

Just triple click on one of the regions with the selector tool. This will highlight every region on the track. Then audiosuite, normalize. Or shift click each one with the grabber.

Thank you for the instructions on the object grabber tool. That's good to know.

As far as the Normalizing, I guess I'm going to have to do each region individually because even when I select each region individually with the grabber, when I Normalize it includes all the unselected silent regions in between and includes them and produces a new region. The new resulting region ends up with the normalized level and the actual talking segments are higher because the silent regions have been included in the processing.

I have two tracks of talking where the people take turns and the lengths are very irregular. The best way I have found to get the volume levels similar is to RMS Normalize each region of talking on each track to a common value.

That's working pretty good and it isn't too difficult.

Thanks again.
