Default Need to Remove the Lead Vocal from a Song

Can anyone recommend a plug-in or another method for removing the lead vocal from a stereo recording (song)?

Thanks!

I tried once or twice to do this with minimal success. Bring in the song to 2 mono tracks. Pan both tracks straight up-mono. Put the Digi EQIII on one of the tracks, and reverse the phase on it. It'll drop out the vocal, or most of it. You will still here any reverb left over.

You just need to flip the Phase of ONE channel of the stereo file.

Since most stereo recordings have the vocals dead center when one channel is inverted (left or right does not matter) the vocals will null and the things that are panned will not.

unfourtunatly the bass is usually centered as well so you might have to get a bit fancy with some EQ to help the track sound better.

There's also some software out there to do this, and it was ...like $29.95 ...but I didn't spring for it. Forget the name of it, but looked cheesey. If some has a really good method, post it!
Lacey Thompson Vocal Eliminator could do it. never tried it though, but bought one of his products 20 years ago (Para EQ) and wasn't impressed.
