Just when it felt like things were turning around. This is very disheartening.

I'll have to agree. I would like to know why they got cut when the CEO gets a nice bonus!

It seems like everything was on the up and up, so why cut now?

“Jobs have gone in Product Management, Beta and QA, Applications Engineering and Marketing.”

Astounding news, when it appears Avid should actually be increasing their staff to allow Pro Tools to deliver its advertised features properly.

To play devil's advocate, what if they were over staffed in those areas?

Isn't everything relative? My point is, we don't have enough information (no one really does except insiders) to know if this is completely bad or good, do we?

Looks like they made the push to offer outstanding updates for the past few months to get as many people upgraded but he first of the year.

Now that has passed its time to gut what has been good over the passed few months.

The buzz has been great but now the party is over. Back to reality. AVID is going down.

+1

(Sorry Drew, but with respect, you know it's true!)

CULLaboration or CULLabhoration - any way you look at it - it ain't good. Very cloudy.

Make Jeffro head of Marketing (& DUC Divining) and perhaps we'll get somewhere. Truth vs Spin.

Will a chop at the top be the only way to fix this travesty? Share-holders?

Default Avid Technology Layoff some of its workers. is it for the better

Quote:
Avid, the makers of Pro Tools, have undertaken another round of layoffs affecting some key people on the Pro Tools, Venue and the wider audio teams.

Jobs have gone in Product Management, Beta and QA, Applications Engineering and Marketing. This includes teams from both the USA and Germany and may extend to other Avid offices around the world.

As is always the case this includes friends of many of the team on Pro Tools Expert, we have spoken to some of them on the phone today and as expected they are shocked by the news.

Our best wishes go out to all those affected by this news.
Farewell to those Marketing people, from day one they slack at their job.

Just wondering, Is this the big U turn that will shake up the protools new features.

Lay offs= big savings which could intern be spent on coders to code in more useful features?

The so call pros in big fancy studios with all those gears no longer run the show.
The guy and gal with their laptop and headphone is what running it now.

Time Avid spend some money on coding, jump back in the game full on and defeat all the other heavy weight champs about EG Cubase, Ableton, Fl studio

revamp the midi section for protools.
I suggest avid to buy a copy of Cubase and Fl-studio, dig deep and compete
Features like Chord track from cubase, fl-studio paint, even logic copy the midi paint.

Remember old people do not buy music nor Daw software.
and young people do not like old peoples stuff
