Default Digi002 (blush)

Hi, Newbie here ... and I'm prolly on the wrong forum 2 boot!

I am about to upgrade from my old Digi001 (yes, I still use it and it works great for me) to a laptop with a Digi002 rackmount.

My question is: will my ProTools LE 6.4 files play thru the Digi002 software (I'm not sure what it will be as, of course, I am buying it used).

I use my Digi001 with a desktop and monitor on stage for backing trax for my band; and with the upgrade to the Digi002 we can take a laptop on stage which will be a lot easier.

Should I expect any trouble in playing my Digi001 ProTools 6.4 LE (run on a Windows XP desktop) when I migratge to a Windows XP laptop with FireWire and whatever ProTools software comes with it? If no software come with it, can I use my 6.4 LE with the Digi002?

Thanks for your patience!

TTY,
Karma

The old 002 should work fine with XP and 6.4. If its coming to you used, it may have been used on later software, so it may ask for a firmware download/update. I would go ahead and let that run(no internet connection needed as the firmware is actually built into the Pro Tools software). Be patient as it can take 30-40 minutes(and don't interrupt it!!!). If its the same computer that you ran with the 001(and it worked well) you should be fine, but remember that the firewire controller(in the PC) needs to be a TI chip, and never, NEVER, EVER plug/unplug the firewire while things are powered on
