Free MTP AVs for everyone!
Sorry for luring you in here under false pretenses. Nonetheless I have a question if you would be so kind to throw some knowledge my way. My boss at the studio I work at gave me an extra Midi Timepiece AV today. Problem is, it is parallel. My Mac G4 doesn't have a printer port. Any suggestions? I know I could buy a PCI card but what other options do I have and what card would be the best if I did have to buy one?

Re: Free MTP AVs for everyone!
There are no parallel cards that work on a Mac. It's useless to you. Serves you right for leading us on

Re: Free MTP AVs for everyone!
Then why does it say Macintosh and windows compatible on the fron of the MTP? There has to be a way. Did the mac have to come with a parallel port built in? And why do computer stores say that their cards work for both? I'm not doubting you but I guess I need more convincing

Re: Free MTP AVs for everyone!
I think I get it now...Am I supposed to use the Mac Din 8 connector? If so how? Is there a card? I looked at the g port but I am still not sure f that is what I need.

Re: Free MTP AVs for everyone!
I have a MOTU MicroExpress and I think I got it to work on my iBook by getting a Beldin USB->Serial adapter.
This makes your mac think it has a real serial port, so the console for the express can work, and OMS can see it. All you need to do then is to get the old 8 pin "round" serial cable and hook it up. Not sure how reliable it would be though. I use a direct USB->MIDI thing now. |
