Kontakt 5.6.8 update

Some of you may have gotten an email from NI saying there's an update for Kontakt - that's legit. However hold off on doing the update as several people are having apparent problems with said update like libraries disappearing, some now in demo mode when they weren't before, etc. Check in to the NI forums for more.

Here's the relevant parts of the email:
"The update links the ‘Add/Authorize Library’ buttons for third-party libraries – such as those from Heavyocity and Spitfire Audio – to Native Access, simplifying installation and authorization. Find out more about this feature here: https://support.native-instruments.c...ONTAKT-Library

KONTAKT 5.6.8 also fixes some bugs and adds new features for instrument builders."

Thanks Musicman. I have an extremely stable system on Mavs with 11.3 - and I'm FINALLY resisting the urge to update like I used to. I am now in the if it ain't broke world!

Same here - I used to be an update freak but not any more. Especially with Kontakt. I remember they had this problem a couple of updates ago - IIRC it was the same update that first had the colored chiclets at the key tops instead of the whole key (for key assignments). Got fixed in the update that brought back the whole colored keys.

I just went through this last night.

Apparently, the new method of adding/authorizing a library only works for third party content, and not content from NI. If you click the add button in 5.6.8, it fires up Native Access which asks for a serial number, and then it seems to recognize that you have the (third party) library installed locally and simply adds it to the list in Kontakt.

However, for the moment, the only way to add any NI libraries - even if you already have them installed on a drive - is to redownload and replace them all. Weird...

And yeah - I had issues with things being authorized as demos, and certain strange backend errors.
