Question selecting instrument track?

I'm trying to do a mix that has (so far) two instrument tracks running the same VI (xpand2) but with different patches. I cant figure out how to select what track I want to play with my keyboard. Kinda just does what it wants.

how do you do that?

Im pretty sure you just click on the track name on the left?

Or set the one you want to record
