Default Quitting Pro Tools Quicktime Server remove all my PT errors... 9171 and 9173

Quitting Pro Tools Quicktime Server removes all my PT errors... 9171 and 9173.

I have fought for a year to get rid of PT 91xx errors. So now i discover if I quit Protools Quicktime Server ( the the Mac Activity Utility ) I can bring up sessions all day and never see an error. Also, the CPU Usage in the Pro Tools System Usage Utility comes down 30 percent.

Looks like the battle is over for me..... UNLESS ... there is some problem waiting for me because of quitting the ProTools Quicktime Server... Have not seen a problem yet.... so fingers crossed...it looks good for now.

The Pro Tools Quicktime Server is only created when Pro Tools is booted up. So quitting it right away is the time to do it. The PT QT Server does not - re appear - when starting a session... it only appears when the Pro Tools Application is booted up.

Interesting. Does PT run video after quitting the Quicktime engine? A colleague told me he achieved the same error suppression effect by uninstalling the Cloud services.

Awesome. Every little nugget of info brings us closer to proper cpu usage. Thanks I'm going to try this.

Is this a Mac thing or what? I'm dogged by 9173 and video stop errors. How do I quit it?

I tried it. Didn't change my cpu usage at all. But no 9xxx errors either. didn't seem to make it more efficient for me.

Just an aside (of sorts) quitting the PT Quicktime Server will remove the ability to import non-linear file formats like mp3 & mp4... so if this is part of your work flow, proceed with caution

After quitting the Pro Tools Quicktime Server I'm not able to import mp3's into a session. Not complaining, just an observation.

Go to your Activity Monitor and locate the Pro Tools QuickTime Server (which should be easy it's always in red ) - select and force quit. Or you can do it with the terminal with top, locate the PID and then kill it. While I don't know why it's always "not responding", I didn't see a difference by quitting the PTQTS, so I leave it there.

I even tried to completely delete it from the Pro Tools package, but then Pro Tools won't launch at all.

Remember..... the best time to Quit the Pro Tools Quicktime Server is Right away..... before bringing up a session.... If you wait until your the Quicktime Server turns Red..... you don't really get the CPU benefit space...

Looks like we all have different results.... I have never imported an mp3.. but that good to know... I'll try it and see. Actually, I use to run Karaoke songs in protools..... the video would play along in sync with the audio.... I could record a singer who was watching one of the screens. This is all just built into protools... with no extra hardware for software of any kind... I suppose that won't work now.... there are probably other video types quicktime related things that won''t work either.

But for me..... finally Unclicking on " Ignore Errors " is a big plus. I want to know if errors come up.... and I really have gained 30 percent on the CPU reading in the Protools System Usage....
