Default S1 teardown?
Does anyone have pics of what the S1 looks like inside? I'm looking at options to modify mine to drop into an 8 fader bucket of my console. It's about 1/4" too wide currently with the existing and unmodified enclosure and I'm looking at options to make it fit

I really wouldn't recommend this! But there is a space at the edge where the magnets are.

Meaning that there's space to shave the chassis down? I'd love to at least see what's in there. I'm surprised that I've been entirely unable to find any pics of the inside of the unit

Why don’t you modify the bucket of your console rather than destroy a perfectly good S1?

Eight channels of an API console are 12" wide. There's not a great way to make it any larger, other than to use up the space of a ninth channel

Yeah, cutting it down with any precision would be difficult.

Affixing the S1 guts to the bottom of a custom steel panel might be an option. Hard to plan without knowing what's inside. I can open mine up as long as they're not difficult to reassemble. Ever open up a remote control and all of the little button parts go flying?

You’d think that, wouldn’t you? I haven’t been able to find one, but I’d love to. Searched for “S1 teardown” and “S1 repai.” Any other ideas for search terms?

Best I can do. This is the plastic base. The places marked in blue are where the magnets are. The circuit board buts up to those. I don't know the exact size though but seem to remember the magnets being 3mm thick. So, with the case thickness you probably have 5mm total each side. Again....this is not recommended
