Default M-Audio ProFire Lightbridge comptible with Non m-audio Pro-tools LE?

I have a digi03 rack plus, pro tools 8 LE, mac pro, tascam 1884. I have a friend who has three XT-20 adats and about 12 fully completed songs. He would like to get the songs off adat and in to pro-tools. I was thinking of using the M-Audio ProFire Lightbridge to connect the 24 channels of adat via optical to get it into a pro-tools session and just saving the session for him. Is the M-Audio ProFire Lightbridge compatible with the non M-audio version of pro-tools. The big deal for me is that he'll purchase and let me keep the Lightbridge once we're done as the large studio he wanted to do this at was going to charge him "alot" for the conversion.

No you will need Pro Tools M-Powered.

You have a couple of options - use M-Powered, or use a 3rd party software (any which will accept Core Audio) and record the tracks. Then import them into Pro Tools and save it as a Pro Tools session.

I'd probably do the latter, unless I needed M-Powered too.

There are lots of ways to get more inputs into pro Tools with the 002/003's. Products like the Presonus DigiMax, firestudio or D8, M-Audio Octane, Focusrite OctoPre with option card. If you have preamps already, you can even use an old ADAT machine.

You can use the MAudio device to add another eight inputs to your 003 but thats it.

I belive heres a way of doing this with JLCooper Data Sync. spkguitar posted a couple of times on how to do it. I forwarded this thread to him.

true, AND, even if you could get the 24 into PTs through ADAT theyve crippled it to only be able to record a MAX of 18 tracks, 8 analog in, 8 adat and 2 spdif. it actually did work for a while with the lightbridge till digi figured out it was possible and then quickly issued a 'maintenence' update for PTs that 'fixed the issue'
easiest to just record into another DAW thatll accept the lightbridge inputs and export to PTs (logic, cubase and prob diff versions of those as well ie: express, le, studio etc...)

Why not just do it with 3 passes, 8 tracks at a time? You can sync via optical.

Edit: Oops, was thinking of the HD24 which has MMC. Don't know if yours does.

Yep. Here's one of the old threads about it.

I'm also currently selling a Datasync, so...
