Default Spontaneous reboots after Pro Tools installation

I have a new HP Pavilion with an AMD Athlon (tm) 64 X 2 dual core processor/XP Pro Media Center OS. After installing ProTools LE version 6.7 r2 with a Mbox and restarting the system it goes into a reboot loop, over and over again. It gets to the welcome screen, but then just starts to boot again and again. The only way to recover from it is to do a full system recovery from the boot screen. Solutions on the DigiDesign site say that new Interlok drivers will correct this problem. It does not. I can not get booted up to the desktop after the install. I downloaded the new Interlok drivers and installed them first, but still no success. I used the configurations suggested in the install manual. I also turned off the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) feature for all but Windows services that was also suggested. The compatibility documents say my system should be compatible, but something is causing this spontaneous reboot after install. What can I do to get the software installed and get booted up, without going into this reboot loop?

No error messages at all. Just a reboot loop when trying to restart.

i had the same problem, and it was fixed by installing 7 instead of 6.9 for me. 6.9 wouldn't work; 7 works quite well. it's well worth it, since 7 is optimized for the dualcore anyway.
