rumour and 5.3.1

I'm thinking about getting a Rumour for A/D conversion and some plates during mixdown. but I'm using 5.3.1 and I've heard that there are some sort of mirroring issues with S/Pdif. Is this going to be a problem?

Switching to 6.1.1 is not an option as I am in the middle of a project and I don't have time/energy to deal with "issues" if there are any.

It depends. I saw posting of people with those "issues", but i never was plagued by them.

The issues are that you will not be able to swap from or to spdif mirror. What happens depends....you get a BSOD, or a freeze, or somehting like that. Sometimes it will be just that, sometimes you simply lost your winXP setup needing a total re-install. Just live with it, and finish it without the rumour. Then update to 6.1.l and get the rumour.

What does 6.1 offer that 5.3.1 doesnt have.I have the disc for 6.1.1 but have not updated yet.Will I have to reinstall waves gold bundle or does it automatically switch over?

Now if they could find a way for it to automatically switch over I would pay extra. Waves gives me grief every single time I upgrade anything. I always plan an extra day or two of no work when I have to deal with the Waves auth stuff.

It's more the other way around. 5.3.1 has a bug, and 6.1.1 not. But its not sure you will suffer from it with 5.3. What i DO know is that winXP is such a better OS as win98...

can you elaborate a bit on this/ what exactly do you need the spdif mirror option for when hooking up a rumour spdif? I have an RME ADI-8 pro hooked up ADAT and was thinking of also getting the Rumour hooked up spdif (10 channels for drums total) how would the 5.3 bug effect me with this set-up when I upgrade from W98?
