2018.7 Graphics Glitches on Windows 10
Hi everyone,
I am experiencing some funny glitches with 2018.7 and Windows 10. I run two studios, both with the same software setup but different hardware setups, and the issues are the same on both systems. THE ISSUES: 1 - In the EDIT window, when changing automation no value displays VIDEO 2 - In the EDIT window, when dragging a clip, it moves down, then jumps back up to the correct track when dropped VIDEO 3 - In the EDIT window, when moving a track the yellow line that’s supposed to show you where you’re about to drop the track is not accurate VIDEO THE SETUPS: PC 1 - Windows 10 (latest), ProTools 2018.7, RME HDSP 24/96, Intel HD Graphics 4600 PC 2 - Windows 10 (latest), ProTools 2018.7, RME Fireface 800, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 I have tried trashing my preferences and reinstalling PT, but no luck. Drivers for video cards and other devices are up to date. Any ideas? The lack of an automation value display is extremely difficult to work around... Let me know if I can provide further information. Thanks! Last edited by producedbybond; 09-27-2018 at 08:00 PM. Reason: Problem Has Returned |

Re: 2018.7 Glitches on Windows 10 (Graphics)
... and I just solved my own problem. It was a Graphics Driver issue.

Re: 2018.7 Glitches on Windows 10 (FIXED)
Thanks for the update. Could you please detail a bit more what you did with the graphics driver to correct this?

Re: 2018.7 Glitches on Windows 10 (FIXED)
My graphics card software was displaying that it was current version, no updates available... I went to the company website and found that there was in fact an update, which solved the issues (on PC 2 at least). I'm assuming that the same thing is going on with PC 1, will try to update that tomorrow.

Nice when users publish their fixes...esp on Win10 which still has the driver issues pop up now and then, but was it Nvidia or AMD?

That is good info. Let's NOT delete this thread as it serves a purpose for others as Tonepad mentioned

Re: 2018.7 Glitches on Windows 10 (FIXED)
The one that I managed to fix (update) was the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960, which is on an Intel i7 6700 system. I'll post an update on the other system when I have a chance to get out there and try updating the graphics driver.

Re: 2018.7 Glitches on Windows 10 (FIXED)
When you go to update the driver, if you don't use the extras, like 3D, do a custom upgrade and just check the driver and phys-x. Uninstall the others if they're installed.

Re: 2018.7 Glitches on Windows 10 (FIXED)
From the original post:
2 - In the EDIT window, when dragging a clip, it moves down, then jumps back up to the correct track when dropped Well...I updated my NVidia driver and still get the problem as described above from the original post. I assume at this point that this is associated with Windows 7 which I want to stay with. Went back to 2018.4 and all works well. Staying with this for now. |

Re: 2018.7 Graphics Glitches on Windows 10
Well, it appears that the problems in my original post have returned... Or, more likely, were never actually fixed.
I have discovered that they are happening on some projects, but not others. Latest drivers for everything are installed. This is driving me nuts. Any more insight from anyone? PS - I still haven't attempted a graphics driver update on PC 1, but PC 2 is continuing to give me these issues even though it is fully up to date. |
