How is your 2018 version running?
I presently have 2018.7 . Has been really great without any issues. I see 2018.10 and 2018.12 now. How are they working for you? Any reason why I should wait any longer to get to the top?? Thanks!
Win 10 pro, Asus Sabertooth mb, 64 bit, 32 gbs ram, Quad i7's. |

Re: How is your 2018 version running?
I haven't had any stability issues upgrading throughout the 2018 iterations.
Running MacOS though.

Re: How is your 2018 version running?
Thanks for replying, I'm glad it's working out for you. I am a little more interested as you can understand from people running Windows 10 but all good! Thanks for replying and I'm sure other Mac users will love to know all the 2018 versions have been great for you. Andy

I see you're on 10.12.6. I'm on 10.13.6 on a 5,1 2010 Mac Pro and having GUI lag while editing. No way near as responsive as HD 11.2.2 on the same (now heavily specced!) machine. Can you report on the general responsiveness of the GUI?

Hello xxx, Thank you for contacting Avid Technical Support. Currently there is a Quartz Redrawing issue with Pro Tools and 4k and 5k displays. This issue is being prioritized with our Engineering team and they are also in touch with Apple, to help resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Currently, here are the recommendations given by Engineering and Apple for better performance: 1) BUILT-IN RETINA DISPLAY SETTINGS: -> Choose: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (away from the default), found here: System Preferences > Displays > Color > Display Profile 2) QUARTS REDRAWING ISSUE with 4 and 5K monitors: -> iMac 5k models, as per Apple: -> Set to 2K for it to be smoother 3) Try the following on iMacs particularly 5K models (As per Apple): ->Disable Automatic Brightness 4) You can also try opening Pro Tools in Low Rez: Right Click Pro Tools > Get Info > click 'Open In Low Rez' Hope this helps. Best Regards, However, "as quickly as possible" is a bit ridiculous, since this issue has been present for 2 years now...

Re: How is your 2018 version running?
I use a 27” LED Cinema Screen resolution at 2560x1440. I haven’t tried disabling automatic brightness, I have changed the colour profile which hasn’t helped.
I’m also talking to Avid support and they have told me it’s a known issue, however my support person has said it’s a problem with the ‘architecture’ of the 5,1 Mac Pro but clearly other are having problems on newer machines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: How is your 2018 version running?
Hi.
Running Win10, GTX980 gfx card, PT 2018.12 with Focusrite Clarett 8Pre without any issues. I have a Avid approved computer (HP Z8xx). I record bands and very little midi stuff. Heavy punch-ins, editing and knock on wood.... no crash for as long as I can remember. Only issue (and it's a minor one) is that PT sometimes will not shutdown. I need to kill it via TaskManager, but I can live with that. |
