Forced Win 10 update made a mess

Turbo boost actually is enabled/disabled from the desktop once Windoze has booted, but I’ll sure get into the bios and look for C -states. Thank you!

Turbo Boost is in BIOS and disabling it there makes it permanent and not subject to change with a Windows Update. It's also one of the Avid optimizations. Are you possibly talking about Intel's Turbo Boost Monitor, which can be disabled from within windows 10? This just monitors Turbo Boost, it doesn't turn it off.

I am guessing PT2021 is right around the corner and would likely fix problems with 2020 Windows updates. Sure you do not want to wait, but that may be the easiest way out. If for some reason there is not a PT 2021.3 release then 2021.4 release is very likely.

PT release has never been more than 4mth away from previous since they got this year.month version numbering introduced.

Against my anticipation, I’m getting along quite well with PT Ultimate 2020.12 on this rig. Not holding my breath on a new version since I probably won’t be continuing my “service” plan.

I don't know how you guys do it! I'm trying to set up 2019.12 on a Windows PC with Win 10 Pro 1903, 2nd time I installed Windows. 1st time it upgraded to 1909 before I knew it, this time I've turned Windows Update off every way I can so we'll see. Zen Studio+ would never show a buffer except for 512 in PT and I knew that was a lie as that's a TB2 interface. I have to dig out my HD Native Thunderbolt & the Omni this time. I loved Win 7 but Win 10 is big, smelly turd on the lawn of humanity (I've been a Windows guru of sorts for 30+ yrs so I can say it )

I very much like W10 Pro and have had only a few, easily corrected issues. I'm on the latest W10 update and 2021.3 and no problems. W10 is fully optimized, including several Avid has not documented and I use the Processor Affinity "command switch".

Well kind of lucky it did that, because 2019.12 is supported on W10 1909 release

I'm reinstalling Win 10 Pro 64bit and will let it update to 1903 before I do anything. I have put the Antelope Zen Studio+ up for now, it will still work with my rMBP hopefully. Pro Tools gave me exception errors and would crash under 1903 and 1909. This was a "Hackingtosh" but I just invested in Komplete 13 and finished out Spectrasonics software suite with the purchase of RMX & Trillian and thought I'd make an honest lady out of her. This PC was originally Win 10 so I've got a license asset with Microsoft tied to the machine. If I run into any hard problems going forward I'll start a new thread instead to address it. I've been doing MS both DOS and Windows going back to DOS 4 and Win 3.1, the last year & a half running Mojave on this machine has made me lazy. Thanks!
