Default Forced iLok update?

I just upgraded my Pro Tools to version 2018.1. The first time I ran it, a strange window came up that I'd never seen before with a 20-sec countdown saying that my iLok firmware needed to be updated. It seemed maybe a little sketchy (not unlike those fake Java installer popups), so I cancelled and went searching around on the internet. NOTHING on the iLok site talks about firmware updates, and there's no way to contact iLok support directly (AFAIK). The iLok License Manager application on my desktop says nothing about firmware updates (although it does show you what firmware version your iLok is on).

So my questions are:

Is this legit?
Should I allow this strange popup window to update the firmware on my iLok?
Why is there nothing on iLok's site about upgrading firmware?
Why does this feel so sketchy and why wasn't it designed better? Seems like a HUGE security risk, training people to just click on whatever pops up on their machine with no way to verify.

i would just go to the iLok site and see if there any any updates available there .. if not .. i would not regard it as legit ..

and you can contact iLOk via email .. and i would with a copy / picture of that message (if you made a copy or took a picture) ..

just my .02

Happened on mine too. Let it run.
Been working fine the last 8 hours. No issues.

Edit: Pop Up was just the one time during 1st time Pro Tools 2018.1 launch. Hasn't been back since and no issues. Assumed the firmware update had to do with the new ilok cloud. Certainly looked legit. Again, no more pop ups or issues since.
