Default Perfect touring mic

The didn't have the drummer chew on it but it's still impressive.

But will it blend

People alway like to point out that theres something else they would use first. But I think when you look at the durability and the price point they sell them at coupled with their product range they may well be the worlds best mic manufacturer (not to be confused with making the worlds finest mics).

I have nothing bad to say about Shure mics. Especially for live sound.

And us old dogs have known this for years. At my last house gig, we had the ceramonial Don Rickles 58 kept in a special place for his use only(he would slam it to the floor several times during his show). It was beat to hell(and back) with the ball pushed com[pletely to one side(like the ice cream about to fall off the cone). It still worked when I left 6 years ago, and I'll lay odds that it still works today

I still have my 'first' Shure 58. They made a mistake with this bad boy as it had a volume control on it. This of course broke, or crackles, or....

So there is a least one pitiful vintage Shure. And it's all mine.

But those EV gun mics. They could take a beating. In fact, if I'm recollecting right. They could give a beating. We took the base off the mic stands at stage exit. Waited to see if any 'greasers' were waiting to clobber us. As these were are only self defense. It was a tough gig back then being a long hair. And worse yet, playing in a racially mixed band. The bases were way to heavy to swing. Those EV's just the right weight. Once we split a gig with Alice Cooper. I think we must have had to wait three hours until the parade of jacked up 57 chevies got tired and went to pick on someone else. But on occasion we had to fight our way into our U Haul rental. Things haven't changed much have they but the new mics a lot less versatile.

Had they used the slimmer SM57 its doubtful it would have even gotten damaged. Stick a new windscreen on that SM58 and it would be as good as new.
