Default MIDI basic question: I can\'t hear audio, patching?

I have an 002, running a 6.9... I can see the signal but can't hear it. I did create a separate audio track (non-midi) so I can hear the audio, but I thought I could patch the midi and the audio on the same track... I'm a novice, obviously... Thanks for any advice...

There's not quite enough info there to know for sure what's going on, but a common mistake people make is that they think MIDI cables carry audio data, which is incorrect. MIDI just carries performance data, like what notes are being played and for how long, but the actual sound of the keyboard/synth still only comes out the audio outputs of the device. You need to patch your keyboard's audio outputs into your mixer or extra inputs of the 002 (which you would then monitor using an Aux track).

If you post back with the particulars about your setup, it'll be easier to see where the problem is.

Thanks for the response. I created an aux channel to monitor the audio from the keys.. which I can do when I'm playing. But after I record I can't hear it during playback. For the MIDI channel I have the input selector at port 1 set for all channels... the output selector is at port 1 channel 1.... For the aux I have the input selctor at mic/line 4 (keyboard audio) and the output going to analog 1 &2...

I'm not sure if this is enough info... but it seems I have MIDI and audio going into pro tools but I don't have a correct connection from pro tools back to the keyboard in order to hear recorded MIDI info....?
