Opinions Needed
I have a fully loaded MPC2000xl with 1gig external scsi drive and cd rom. Its been sitting here for the past 4 mos and have not been used at all. Now I have an opportunity to trade this mpc for a MacPowerbook and a EMU Planet earth....What do you guys think...
should I go for it?

I'd do it for the Powerbook depending on how old it is. The Planet Earth is not needed, you can load lots of soft synths in the Powerbook that smoke it. You can sell the Akai and get other studio goodies or maybe upgrade your PC.
