Yep, although they work fine for many of us. Which is why I suggested try a cloud licebse and/or USB2 hub. Either way the answer should be known by now...

Thanks @musicman691 That is certainly the most likely cause since I never had this issue on my older Mac Pro and this is happening on a brand new machine. Guess a new iLok is in my near future.

A new iLok isn't going to fix the issue; as long as the iLok uses USB2 connection/protocol the problem will continue to exist.

The last thing to try before buying a new iLok is a USB2 hub. This is the go to solution for iLok issues on USB3 ports.

On the iLok deal I would also get what's called a 'dongle buddy' which is a short extension cable that would go between the iLok and whatever port it's plugged into. With that the iLok and connectors aren't subjected too damage like they would be with the iLok plugged hard into the computer port. Meaning if someone bumps into your setup the computer port doesn't get wrecked. Especially good if you go portable.
