Default Error (-9514) on 10.3.2 Update

Hi,

I'm having this issue with loading Pro Tools after upgrading to 10.3.2 and it
seems a few people are having the same problem.

'Could not allocate memory for the disk cache. Try lowering your disk buffer (DAE buffer), disk cache size, or engine voice count. If you got this error on launch, delete your prefs and try again.' (-9514)

I've deleted my prefs and this hasn't helped, I've also tried running as Administrator with no luck either. Any other suggestions? I struggled for a long time with an ilok issue in Pro Tools 9, this was then fixed when I upgraded to Pro Tools 10 but now that issue has now returned with this upgrade. I get an error saying 'ilok not found, please insert and try again', my 'fix' for this is to double click the Pro Tools icon at the same time as inserting the ilok and it works as before (I used to have to do this every time). Unfortunately, it loads as far as 'DAE Loaded' and I get the above error message and when I click 'ok', it shuts down Pro Tools. I've tried a complete reinstall with no change.

I can just reinstall Pro Tools 10 from a disk and carry on as usual but as I have free upgrades it would be good to see what's new.

Any advice?

Here's my Sandra report:

Martin11, I was just about to post the exact same thing here and noticed you beat me to it. I have the same error as you but different system.

I think its something with 10.3.2. -- I have been using 10.1 since it basically came out of avid. I am usually not one to jump on any upgrade until its been out and proven.. Because 10.1 was working so well for me, I never rushed to put 10.2 on my machine, in fact I skipped that version altogether.. But recently, I was trying to troubleshoot some flakey MIDI stuff and decided to try 10.3.2.. So this morning I installed it, got the same error as you.. Tried to take one of the other posting on this thread about just reinstalling and seeing if the issue is resolved. I did NOT resolve the issue. So for me, bottom line was 10.3.2 always gave me this issue. So I decided to backup 1 version, I installed 10.3.1 and .. Bingo, it works as designed. Played the same old song files and no crazy errors. -So my fix is just staying with 10.3.1.. Not sure the 10.3.2 would really offer me something I couldn't live without.. Hope this helps..

Thanks Joe,

Yeah, think I'm going to just reinstall 10 from disk and just ignore the update. Pro Tools 10 worked fine for me and I was happy with it. Just hope this doesn't affect future upgrades!

Cheers for your reply.

Martin

This works:

Success!!!

1. Uninstalled Protools 10
2. Removed 3rd party plugins to my desktop from the plugins folder
3. Completely deleted everything that has to do with AVID
4. Enabled DEP during installation using Avids Troubleshooting link below.
http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...411#Enable_DEP
5. Restarted PC
6. Installed Protools 10
7. Right Click Protools 10 Icon then go to properties. Go to the compatibility tab and check the box under privilege for Run this program as an administrator
8. Boot Up and enjoy!!
9. Doesnt work, try disabling DEP
10. Dont forget to add all your 3rd party plugins back in your new plugins folder.

Hope this works for everybody else having issues.

And I turned off DEP when I started to use PT after the reinstall and restart of pc.

The link is broken, but heres how: Right click on computer/properties/advanced system settings/under performance - settings/ and there you go!

TSK1, you need to start your own thread instead of camping on to somebody else's. Especially when yours has nothing to do with theirs. Thank you.
