Default ilok issue

Every first time I start PT (first time opening the program, not going session to session), it tells me there is no ilok. If I unplug and re-plug up the newer ilok (I have both an old original and a newer ilok 2), it finishes booting and works fine. But I have to unplug and plug it into the USB port everytime. I've tried other ports and made sure all Pace drivers are current. Repaired permissions, trashed prefs......the usual stuff.

I'm updating to PT 10.2 right now. If that doesn't change anything, what else should I try? I don't think the ilok 2 is faulty. I don't get this problem on a second computer setup with the same ilok.

What machine are you on? Have you tried a different USB-port? Are you using a USB-HUB?

Yes different ports
Yes I have a hub but I've also tried the front USB ports on the MacPro.

What about the light of the iLok? Is it on, even when you get the error message?

If Protools or ilok.com is not identifying your ilok in the Computers front or rear ports, I would create a RA and swap out your ilok from Ilok.com.

In terms of hubs I have seen many ILOK2 problems with Hubs, If you have multiple Ilok2's on a hub, sometimes you will see the LED's go out on the Iloks 2's especially when hot swapping a ilok while computer is powered on.

Certaint hubs do not exhibit this problem but MANY hubs do. This relates specifically to multiple Ilok2's on a hub. This is probably not the issue in your case but it is worth knowing.

If there seems to be a issue with your USB ports, try to reset your computers PRAM and Reset the SMC.
