Crossgrading from 7.3.1 to 9
Has anyone here done this yet?
How did it go? I'm also going to upgrade Tiger 10.4.11 to Snow Leopard Macbook Pro 4g Ram, 2.4 Ghz |

Re: Crossgrading from 7.3.1 to 9
It's recommended that you do a complete uninstall of your old version, so it really wouldn't matter what version you're upgrading from. Protools 9, though you pay a crossgrade price, still has a full installer. So if you uninstall 7.3.1, install Snow Leopard, then install the full program of PT9, you should be fine.

This question, and the preceding answer, should be added to the faq.
NST7, also just make sure whatever plugs you have are the latest version. New installers for plugs included with legacy toolkit packages are available; these don't require previous software to be installed to run (like the MPTK installer does). |

Re: Crossgrading from 7.3.1 to 9
what is the downside to just upgrading rather than uninstalling an old version first? (just saw this thread 2 days after upgrading w/o uninstalling.

Re: Crossgrading from 7.3.1 to 9
Older plug-ins and drivers/corrupt database files are the number one source to PT crashes.
Clean installs are always the best for major upgrades. |
