Unhappy Lots of issues in a short period of time.

EDIT: I am very sorry. I did not realize that I had posted this in the Pro Tools HD section. If a mod could please move this that would be great. Or I can just copy it to the other forum. Again, sorry for the hassle

First off, Hi. I'm new here as well as a new user to Pro Tools in general. I bought the Pro Tools M-Powered 8 on 10-18-2010 and I am already having some issues that I have yet to see fully addressed.

To start, I cannot register my product. When I fill out all required information, the site verifies that it understands it is seeing Pro Tools M-Powered 8, I verify the info, and then I hit submit. All I get is the same registration page refreshed to blank. All blank but the word "error". Nothing else, just "error" in bright red font. Yes all the information is correct and I am 1000% certain it is.

Next. Whenever I check for updates through the program I am told that the software is up to date. Now I know this is false because my version is 8.0.3. I came to the web-site and downloaded the update and extracted. When I try to run the set up file I am promted that "the Updater is unable to locate an installed version of Pro Tools on this computer.". I found someone else on these forums with a similar problem, but there were not any resolute answers or useful solutions aside from uninstall/reinstall...which I have tried.

Is there a specific place I need to be extracting to? Because there really seems to be no mention of that in the Read Me or anywhere else.

Lastly, and I figured that updating would solve this, whenever I normally exit Pro Tools (if it doesn't just withdraw upon opening a session) I get the famous box telling me the program quit unexpectedly. Yet I expected the program to close when I clicked "Exit". I use avast! anti-virus and run it frequently enough that I am extremely positive it is not a virus.

Please help if you can. I am attending IPR and I'd like to be able to do some of my work at home. I'll call tech support if I need, but I figured I'd ask you all first.
