One feature I really like in Ableton, which I'd love to also have in PT is the ability to see when audio is playing through an input, output or bus before selecting it (it actually shows a small level meter in the Input or Output dropdown menu, so you can see if it's the one you want to select)

It's kind of difficult to describe how useful this is until you've actually seen it in use... But I find it supremely handy.

You can see here that my Moog is attached to input 9, and I'm playing it and can see the small level meter dancing next to the input number. So useful

Oversampling during off-line bounce to combat aliasing/digital artefacts.

Enable choice of 1x (as is I suppose), 2x, 4x or more.

Or enable separate plugin setting schemes for real-time and bounce operation.
e.g. in a bounce operation plugin setting scheme I would then typically have non-linear dist/comp/lim/ plugs set to oversampling, and any headphone/room mix plugs turned off

This makes best use of CPU resources while
-mixing where real-time is a must
-bounce where bounce time can exceed song's time (to combat aliasing)

(DDMF Metaplugin allows for separate oversampling settings for real-time and bounce)

I dont know if this came out as clear as I hoped for. Or if it is doable. Does it make sense?

Interesting ! For sure it has to be done with a different graphic representation otherwise you might not know if the channel is in input mode or it's just the preview

For sure it makes sense ! The only problem I see is that nowadays many plugins let you oversample (or they do it internally), and so I don't know if this could cause conflicts or an unnecessary use of resources

You mean the time remaining ?
If so, maybe it's kind of difficult to implement because the complexity of the song varies throughout the song itself, so maybe it's not totally predictable ?

Another little thing I'd love to have is an "Duplicate and make inactive" option with tracks and channels.

The ability to lock track heights. I don't need EVERY track to get bigger or smaller when I only want to change the size of a few.

My efx return tracks can be locked to micro or mini and remain that way unless I need to write automation on them.

Reaper added this a while back and it's incredibly useful.

If you only want to change a few track sizes, select clips/data on those tracks in the Timeline/Edit Window, and use the Track Size shortcut (I don’t recall that atm, bc I use a EuCon softkey for it). I only realized that recently (after 30 years of using Pro Tools). It seems like a dated workflow, but it does work, once you wrap your mind around it.
