Tempo issues with MIDI
I have encountered a new problem in MIDI. I’ve got a piece I’m working on that is using, among other things, Superior Drummer and AIR Mini-Grand piano.
For my purposes I am comfirtable drawing in parts with the mouse.A keyboard will probably be faster, but I don’t have keyboard skills. This isn’t my first piece I’ve done by far: in the last year I’ve done over a hundred pieces this way, so I feel like I have the drill down. The problem that has shown up is the piano and drums are playing rather sloppily. I have quantized repeatedly, yet the sloppiness is still there. It does not appear in the same place every time, and doesn’t show up until about 8 bars into the song. The parts in question are eighth note triplets at 87 BPM ( this a swamp pop thing), and all other plugins are inactivated. I have changed cache size up and down, and I have toggle low-latency on and off. It seems like the piano inaccuracy doesn’t appear with the drum inaccuracy, but I could be mistaken. So what gives, and how do I fix it? |

Re: Tempo issues with MIDI
Have you checked 'real time midi properties'? I'm guessing some weird settings on 'swing' f.ex would cause something like this.

Re: Tempo issues with MIDI
Yeah I checked the real time MIDI thing- no change.
I went ahead and started over- It wasn't like I had a big time investment. But on the suspicion that the template and project file I was working from was corrupted, I started from scratch. In the process of that, I noticed that the sample rate was selected at 44.1 khz. I usually work at 192. I changed it to that and did a verse of drums and piano and the problem wasn’t present. I have had other instances in which the project file was corrupted, and possibly it happened on this project too. Whatever, I finished piano and drums and the new drummer has better timing than the first guy. |
