Increase Buffer size/Decrease Buffer size?

I jsut started gettin this problem:

When I try to play a track or a beat It will tell me to increase buf. size, so I increase it
when I play the track again it will tell me to decrease buffer size????? I dont know what to do, It wont work on buffers 512 or 1024, any help would be great

This is a quite common problem. Look to the Troubleshooting thread and check if your computer is compatible with PTLE. Some of the most common things causing problems:

• recording to the system drive instead of an additional hard drive
• Your version of Windows isn't supported
• Incompatible mainboard (or chipset)
• Didn't install dual core hotfix etc.

It also would be easier to help if we would know something more about your system.
