Mbox 2 not 'turning on' with Mac Book pro

Just bought a new 15 inch intel chip mac book pro, maximum specs...

I've connected my Mbox 2, to the 'left handed' usb port... but the Mbox doesn't register as connected. I've restarted over and over, and still, the Mbox doesn't seem to turn on.

Also, the protools that I've been using thus far is only 6.8.1... do I need to upgrade for it to work on the MacBook?

I hope you reply soon. I desperately need to get these sounds out of my head and into the box.

6.8.1 won't work with the Intel Macs, you need to upgrade to PTLE 7 and then download the 7.1.1 update.

You need to download and install Pro Tools LE 7.1.1 to run Pro Tools on any Intel Mac. Also, the MBox2 will not appear to be powered on until the proper version of ProTools is installed.
