Ah no, you are confused. And it does not matter anyhow. Neither drive meets the required spec.
And as for partitioning a single drive? You need two separate physical drives so the IO from the OS and Pro Tools is not contending on the same physical drive. By partitioning a single drive into two or more partitions you make this IO problem *worse* not better, as now the heads have to seek between partitions to handle this mix of system and Pro Tools IO. All those systems requirements specs say a minimum of two disk drives... not two partitions (or a dedicated audio drive, not a dedicated partition), for a very good reason. This is also one if the most common beginners mistakes with Pro Tools (including thinking partitioning a single drive meets the two drive minimum requirement) and is discussed all over DUC, search and you will find many threads. And make sure your audio drive meets all the Pro Tools audio drive performance requirements. Darryl |
