Smile Anyone else getting great results with a Macbook?

Well, after loading 7.4.2 on Leopard, I have been sold on using a Mac. I have been on a PC for the last 10 years in PT. Nothing wrong with PC's. They served me right for a long time. After I built about 15 of them of course. haha.

I'm just using a black Mid 2007 model. 2.16 GHZ Intel 2 Core, and 2 megs of RAM, and my machine just smokes. Using the external monitor out too. Wow!!! is all I can say.

I mean, I'm running a lot of VI's (Strike, Hybrid) convo. Reverbs and all at 64 buffer setting. I also, have been running REason rewired in these sessions and my machine is just rock solid.

So, after all of the Macbook Pro talk, are a lot of you having great success with your Macbooks? I feel lucky too, to have a MB with a firewire port. What a crappy thing Apple did with the new MB's. Taking away firewire, to force more MBP sales, just isn't cool. Oh well. Can't wait to load up PT 8 on my little wonder machine.

Rock on!!!

I picked up a last generation 15" MBP (for a steal once the current gen was released) and love it. My other system is dual core PowerMac G5, and the MBP amazes me. I haven't done enough with it yet to see how they really compare, but so far the MBP seems to def have the edge. That with the fact I can carry it around with me and its a no brainer. MacBooks FTW. And fwiw I was planning on getting the new gen macbook until they dropped the FW. I got my MBP for not much more than the new ones. 8^)

Yes,

Late 2008 2GHz. Post editing at the moment when I'm away from home - video shuttling, edits, edits, and then more edits.....

Doesn't even flinch.

Could do with more monitor real estate, but even 15" wouldn't be enough. So I live with it.

I've gotten great results with my 2.0 ghz (got it in 2006) black macbook for the past 2 1/2 years. Usually I'll run anywhere from 15-30 tracks with quite a few inserts, a few VI's and rarely have a problem. I've thought about upgrading to a MBP (the older generation) but why fix/replace it if it ain't broke, right? Congrats on the solid setup.

Aja-

I'm running in through a 003 rack via adat. I run all 500 series preamps and go adat via an RME ADI-8 adda converter. Runs like a champ. I couldn't be any happier. Oh, and everything is firewire with a Glyph GT050Q 500 gig hard drive. I also use an M-Audio Axiom49 as my keboard controller.

I just fire up my rig and it works like a charm everytime.

I'm running a a silver MBP with a 003 and that rocks as well. Heck it's even fine running off the internal in a pinch. Only issue I've had is MIDI but I don't thinks its the MBP problem cuz I had the same issue with my Pro tower...

I'd say yes to anyone considering running PT of a MB or MBP!

i have a 2gh dual core from 07. it rocks for way less than a pro. when im in the studio i have it hooked up to a big display anyway so it doesn't matter much. just maxed it out at 4gb ram. i plan to use this for a while...
