Default disc allocation changed

I hope, this question is not too silly
Why does PT suddenly put audio and fade files into a folder on my local harddrive instead of storing them on the external drive with all the others, where they belong ? Is there a way to accidently change disc allocation for some files ? I recovered all those files with time machine, so no damage was done, but I'm wondering.

I've gotten into the habit of ALWAYS checking disk allocation. Just one of those things that's easy to confirm and can save your ass.
