Default Waves Abbey Road EMI TG12345 Channel Strip

Looks nice...

http://www.waves.com/plugins/emi-tg1...12345-overview

I upgraded to the Abbey Road Collection the other month after purchasing every Abbey Road plugin individually save the King's Microphones. I thought I'd better bundle up to avoid having to purchase every subsequent plugin individually.

However, seems my hope was misplaced as I am now invited as an owner of the bundle to add the EMI TG12345

I must saw I much prefer being a Mercury owner as opposed to owning the Abbey Road stuff.

Anyhow, upgrade looks like $69. Anyone else in a similar situation seeing the same?

Stephen

Stephen Bond,

I guess this is the first additional Abbey Road plugin that they've introduced since coming out with the Abbey Road Collection (previously they were just sold individually). So I wondered how they would handle things. It's kind of like its own mini-Mercury now, although it's not free to add the plugins, just discounted.

I'm guessing that this is the best they could do because of how the licensing agreement with Abbey Road is structured.

Yeah I found it interesting that the Codex Synth was released just before the TG. No doubt if the releases were the other way round there would have been more dissenting voices.

Anyhow, shame I missed the change to get a $50 Waves voucher from Everything Audio today. That would have sweetened the pill :)

The vouchers are only good for 25% of the cost, when used on a single plug-in. You end up paying approx $10 less than you would through audiodeluxe ($74.25 vs $83.99)

Not getting this because I have REDD. I'd still like to try it out, though.

I would have expected that us Mercury (=everything) customers would have got this for free, but no. They will invent a new Everything bundle soon enough :P

well, Janne,
maybe "console" yourself
in comments made by Geoff Emerick,
in his book, where he makes a point to mention that when the transistor console was installed,
the entire staff, and more importantly, the beatles themselves were appalled at the thinness and tinnyness of the sound.
GE had to whack on tons of eq to get the same bass response as the older REDD consoles.

I'm not saying whether I need/want this plug or not, but instead complaining against Waves' policy of letting us Mercury customers down here and there. Had I a crystal ball, it would say Waves is putting out another "Everything" package.

(which would not be the first; now there is this Mercury, which today is not "everything"... but you can count back all the way to 20th century when they had their Gold package that includes "everything")

Today, I would just have wanted to try it out without a demo license. Perhaps I don't even bother. Waves has said it loud and clear they don't want to be a part of PT community (no AAX-DSP support) so why should I (=we) that's the question...

i know you were, j.
as a fellow mercury dood, i feel your/our pain.

just using your comment to spring board/hi jack
to point out that when this gear was introduced new,
it was perceived to be a step backward,
and a bit of selling out.
(course, stereo was, too...)
