I've tried the Avid De-esser but it just wasn't enough. The Massey De-esser seems to be more transparent than others. I like to avoid De-esser's but some times you need one. It's quick without going to clip gain.

Try the McDSP De-Esser, they have a 14 day demo license option

The McDSP DE555 looks to be just a dual-band compressor with a filter in the sidechain (switchable between bandpass and resonant hipass). Simple one-stop shop.

Massey's is my favorite de-esser (though I'm getting to know FabFilter and it's smart) so it would certainly be nice to have as AAX.

Same with FGX. They say it's being rewritten. I say they're devoting their energy to other (i.e. new) products, and I don't blame them, but as an FGX owner it would be nice to see this tackled.
You're not alone with that feeling.

I think once VMR is released, all the others will either be at the same time or shortly follow.

I am of the opinion that Slate wants the upgraded VCC (2.0) to work in VMR out of the box.

As for De-Essing, that FREE Eventide plugin ($249 after July 8th) has a De-Esser on it ...

Fabfilter Pro-DS. Anyone who has not tried it, you should demo it. The most transparent de-esser I have ever used. I always preferred Volume automation until I got the Fabfilter. aax 64 too.

I don't care at all about VMR, I just want an AAX standalone VCC.

Wasn't there mention of AAX DSP from Slate way way back for VCC? My HDX card is lonely.

Me two, but I'm just thinking that this is the reason for the (longer) wait.

He's going to "give" away the VMR shell, but you have to purchase the "guts" (modules). I think the VMR also houses the VMS (which also hasn't been released yet) modules.

So, I'm assuming that we're waiting for all that to work to their satisfaction before they make any releases.

Torture that he posted May 6th that VMR was "Just a few weeks away" ... Maybe he should have said months ...
