Default power book + digi 001

hi- i've recently started reading up on protools and considering it as my home setup. im still at the beginning stages of home recording, so i need all the information i can get.

i am looking into investing in a powerbook G4 and digi 001. would that be a good combination? do you recommend it? will the powerbook do all that a power mac can do with ease? will all connectivity be possible?

thanks in advance

Once you get an expansion chassis for the 001's PCI card, it should work just fine.

Hi william:

Does it work fine with an ibook?
Which expansion chassis should I buy?

My aim is to use PT for live acts.
I need 3 audio out (2 for the stereo & 1 for the drummer's click) and 1 MIDI out.

There's maybe an other solution. I think about the Mbox (using monitoring out for the drummer!), but what about the MIDI?

Hope you could help me!

Mbox doesnt have midi, so you should get a midi-interface for that too. A little warning though: MBOX only has 2 in 2 out....so what you could do is record 2 channels, and capture all the midi. Then at a later stage you could get the synth to your place, connect it to the box, and get the synth-audio into protools, by letting it replay the performance through midi.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Unfortunately the Ibook has no Card slot, so an expansion chassis is out of the question. You would have to go with the Mbox-no matter what.
