PT 2018.1 Native is doing hardware insert delay compensation. Actually 12.8 was doing it also. At least on my setup.

If it starts, it won't save, or crashes before you get there.
Most often it is stuck on "Scanning Plugins"
Looses connectivity to that stupid cloud, so I lost a lot of recorded material.
If this is Avids way to promote Pro Tools as a professional tool...
I am having serious trust issues here. No way of telling wether my creative time spent in protools will actually survive.
I am going back to my PT 9, as soon as my dead dongle is replaced.

Pro Tools is not crashing but I have a persistent issue with playback stopping after a while on looped playback.

Looking in Activity Monitor reveals that Pro Tools Quicktime Server is hanging all the time (about 200 times in a 1 hour session according to Act Mon).
Quitting Pro Tools Quicktime Server removes the issue.

This is on a brand new MBP15r with 16GB RAM, PT 2018.1, OSX 10.13.3.

Good to hear, I am still on Sierra 10.12.6 and 12.8.1 but have been considering updating to HS ,for when I run Final Cut Pro X

PT 2018.1 is working excellent here now that I got a handle on what was causing my sessions to crash during loading or closure...a plugin nevertheless at this point.

I am very happy to read the success stories here. I have Mac Pro 2009 that I just modified up to dual 3.46 Intel 6 core from dual 2.26 quads. Media Composer is lightening fast now (8.9.3) and Pro Tools 12.8.1 is seemingly the same - with nice, smooth metering as well. Running on Sierra (whatever the highest version is of that). When I get a chance (working on Super Bowl and the Olympics so not until March) I will go for the Pro Tools 2018.1 update.

Without breaking any of the good stuff! Nice to hear all the good reports, though. Looks like Avid is stepping up their game...

Having zero luck with this one. Complete manual un-installed 3 times and I get endless beach ball when I click on menu items after it starts. I end up force quitting to exit. PT 10.8.3 worked fine but had some glitchy CPU spikes that I hadn't seen before.

Long time user; already went through the Avid mac config doc just to brush up but it was already correct.

OSX 10.13.3, 2 x 2.93 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon, 32 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 7950 3 GB

UPDATE: Another engineer had removed the MADI connections from my computer so the audio engine never got up to speed. Re-installing new version now.

12.8.3 was more stable than this version for me, but I am happy enough with 2018.1 that I am choosing to use it because of the new features. The new comping key commands are amazing.

I seem to be getting lots of little clicks when editing MIDI though. I'm still trying to figure that out.

Overall, I'm very happy with the recent versions.

Works fine here, but layered editing is still broken
