Default Plug in when recording

Simple quick question. If I record with a plug in as an insert on the track, will my sound file have the effect?

Thanks,

Tito

It will affect what you hear but it is after the converter.
So if it is for compression or limiting that will not help you.
If it is for a reverb it should not be a problem.

So if I want to effect the incoming recording, it's better to create an aux track with the effect to input the sound, then bus it to an audio track for recording?

If you record with a plug in as an insert on the track, your sound file will NOT have the effect, you only can hear it.
If you want that the effect will be recorderd in the sound file, you can:

1) open an Aux input (mono or stereo)
2) inserte the effect(s) you need
3) set the output of the Aux track to a BUS (mono or stereo)
4) open an Audio track (mono or stereo) and set the input of the Audiotrack to the same BUS of the output of the Aux track.
5) chek the record flag of the Audio track
6) Hit the record button

Hope this helps
Ciao
Gigi

However this method will not help in A-D overload, as the plugin is STILL after the A-D. You need a hardware compressor before the converter to prevent digital overloads.

adhere to -18 = 0vu and you will have 18db of headroom ...

even -16 , -14, or -12 ... all will help you ...

if you have hardware comp, kiss it a few db and get a bit more loudness without too much more level ...

peace john
