Default Yosemite

Any major differences in Yosemite over Mavericks? Anyone finding it better? Not just with ProTools but in general.

I find it to be performing faster in all respects. It's definitely does a better job with Multi core processing. Pro Tools seems to run more CPU efficient on Yosemite. I find the CPU usage is a lot lower allowing me to run more plug-ins.
I didn't have any issues with stability in Mavericks, but Yosemite still seems to be a bit more solid. There is no looking back for me. Version 10.10 seems to be a little snappier and faster than 10.10.1, but not by much. Most people would hardly notice the difference. I think experiences may very depending upon the computer you are using. Make sure you do some sort of backup before you give it a try.

Ok great. Clone time.

Did you upgrade clean or did you update over Mavericks?

Everything, VI's and all. I wiped the hard drive completely, and install all software again. I do this with every major OS X and Pro Tools Verision. So far I have had no real issues since OS X Mountain Lion on my old Mac (5.1) or my new Mac Pro 2013 which is even better. I never do an upgrade OS X. When I say Major, I mean like from Mavericks to Yosemite or Pro Tools 9 to 10 or to 11 Versions. If it is just a simple next point update, I Just uninstall Pro Tools and the HD Drivers and just install the next update. OS X Yosemite 10.10. out performs version 10.10.1 in everything for me. I even find that the Internet is much faster on 10.10. I have a clean backup image of both.
