Default slow session boot up with 003

A few weeks ago I exchanged my 001 for an 003, PT7.4.2., bought a clean used g5, dual 2Ghz processor with leopard 10.5.5. When I click on the session icon, it takes about 30 seconds to get the PT screen up, it then hangs up on "setting up peripherals" for 3 to 4 minutes. Then, sometimes the 003 clicks, the lights flash and I get a "could not match sample rate" or something like that and then an "access violation" message. If I re-open, it usually opens OK but still with the same several minute delay. These are not large sessions, maybe 20 tracks. Seems to work smoothly once the session is up.
My dealer said it sounded like a memory issue, so I installed 2 more gig for a total of 3 gig of memory---same slow start up.
Ideas? Thanks

Have you tried trashing preferences yet? One thing to check is that you definitely have current versions of plug-ins for compatibility with Leopard - having just one incompatible plug-in installed can cause problems.

Have you tried a different firewire cable for the 003? Do you have other peripherals attached and, if so, what are they and how are they connected?

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I may have isolated the problem. It's looking like it's a folder of recovered sessions from a previous crash (some of which may be corrupt) in my fire wire drive. They are older, unrelated P.T. sessions but somehow they seem to be tweaking the start up of others. Dragged new sessions on to my desktop and they open fine, but only if the suspect drive is disconnected.
I trashed the preferences also. My only plugs-ins are the ones from my ignition pack so I assume they are compatible. I'll double check that.---I have no other peripherals.
I'll give it a day or so and consider it fixed.
Thanks again.

Did that end up working? I'm getting the same problem.
