Default Solid internal hard drive for Digi 001?

Can anyone recommend an internal hard drive to save the Pro Tools files on? Right now my start up drive is a Seagate ST3120024A hardrive and my music drive that I am saving the Pro Tools sesssions to is a Hitachi HDT725040VLAT80. I keep getting DAE error -6045 and it started once I put in the Hitachi so I am looking for a new hard drive. Any recommendations for a hard drive that is reliable that works with the Digi 001.

I have a PowerPC Mac G4 desktop running MAC OS X 10.3.9.

Thanks

Get SSD both for system and sessions and you will never look back. I only use SATA disks for backup.

IDE SSD, kind of a rare bird.

I'm fond of Western Digital Black drives right now but I don't know if there is an IDE version of them.

I suspect the OP was looking for a solid recommendation on a solidly built IDE drive and not a actual SSD.

With that in mind I would point out that any current IDE drives is probably faster than whats in there now.

Any current IDE drive purchase is a dead end. You can grab 320GB IDE drives for around 59.00 on sale. I would buy either a Western Digital or Seagate.

Can you add a SATA card to that G4? That would allow for using the newer drives and the WD Caviar BLACK drives are great. Caviar BLUE are available as IDE or you might think about firewire(but I do agree that IDE 7200 rpm should be faster).

Would that work?

As far as I know yes. But......Some of the earlier G4 MACs were limited to drives of 128GB. That restriction may only apply to the boot drive. I would suggest researching exactly how large a drive you can run before you plunk your cash down.
