Default DIGI 003 Rack Word Clock Or Focusrite Liquid Channel\'s?

I just purchased the Focusrite Liquid Channel & the Euphonix MC Mix (both due Friday) & I'm wondering which word clock should I use as the master between the two & how so?

I would vote for the Focusrite. My beef with the LE systems has always been the clocks. I used to have the 001, and really was never satisfied with the way the mixes sounded. Lack of stereo image, and lack of realism, depth and tightness of the bottom. A buddy of mine told me to use an outboard clock with my 001, and bingo, that was it. I used an Apogee Rosetta as the master clock to my 001 system. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!

I now own the 003R and use an outboard clock (Black Lion Audio Microclock) and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The big test is just to see which clock sounds the best. Let your ears be the judge. I continually wonder why Digi doesn't put better clocks in the 003. You can buy an outboard clock for $500 that really is an improvement to what's in 003R. I'm sure that Focusrite will sound better.

Thanks for your quick reply & personal insight. I'm going to see how well these two work/sound together & that will determine if I will still end-up buying a Rosetta 800, but I have faith in the Focusrite. I'll keep you posted.

Hi LaForestPoetry18 ,
My studio just purchased the Liquid Channel, and I'm about to set it up with a digi 003.

How is the Focusrite word clock working for you so far?

Thanks,

G

External clocking with the digi003 should not make a big difference. If it makes, than something is not right with the base system.
I really suggest to read Dan Lavry's papers about this subject. Quite eyeopener reading regarding to external clocking.
Digi003 is usually bashed without a real reason.
