Default 003 R for surround output

Is it possible to use 003R as a core audio surround amp, with 6 active speakers? It could work with VLC or Quicktime player, but it is not possible to set it up in AMS. Anybody knows sollution?

I could not figure out how to set up my 003 Rack so that the Quick Time player can access more than the first two outputs! I think Quick Time uses whatever outputs are set up in Apple Audio MIDI Setup. But in AMS you can't click on the "configure speakers" button, so Quick Time is left with two outputs.

Am I missing something? Is there a solution?

Unfortunately there's no way to run this as a surround system. The 003 does not support decoding of mult-channel audio in the hardware (which is what would be needed to do surround in this manner).

I just need a way to make Quick Time use more than two outputs to play multichannel (5.1) .wav files. Is this possible?

(I do not want to decode ac3 files or DVD audio!)

Can QuickTime make use of the 003's many outputs at all?

But I was not talking about decoding audio. I wanted to know if I can tell Apple's "Audio MIDI Setup" to make use of more than the first two outputs of the 003. I still don't know. In "AMS" only two outputs are even shown.
