Default External Storage suggestions

I'm in the market for an external storage solution as I have max'd out my nMP's 1TB Flash drive.

As most of my drive is taken up with VI samples, I want to find a fast Thunderbolt 2 drive, preferably around 2TB, for streaming samples. This would free up my internal Flash drive for audio and video.

I liked the look of the Lacie little big disk 2 as it was pcie instead of SATA, but I dragged my heels over the price and now they appear to be discontinued.

The only other similar drive I can find is the Sonnet Fusion Flash drive which is expensive and has small capacity.

A quiet, rack mount, Thunderbolt 2 solution with read speeds over 1000 mb/sec would be ideal. Too much to ask?!

I'm mulling over upgrading the internal flash drive with the OWC Aura kit

But I'd like to know if anyone out there has a better suggestion?

There's only three kinds of service: good, fast, cheap. Pick two :)

Seriously, I know that there are PCIe cards capable of +1GBps and TB enclosures that have no problem with it. Only problem they are not in stock anywhere and it costs what it costs...

When we are out in hotels mixing and recording with Famous DJ's we ring a MBPr and a external USB3 with Samsung 1TB drive inside which is not Noticable if we use USB3 or TB2 eclosure so if you want something that is proven and works I would suggest a Samsung Series drive in a USB3 external case..

I have a rackmount Blackmagic MultiDock and just load it with SSD drives. No noise at all.
