cool! Does it work between walls? (i.e.: with a Mac in a separate machine room).

Certainly inexpensive enough. I may be wrong, but it looks like it doesn't allow you to plug in a mouse. On the Macally web site, it says "Built-in pointing device with 2 programmable buttons". Who knows how well that would work with Pro Tools.

Here's a link to the company that makes it (although their retail price is way higher than you'll have to pay). I'm very happy with it. I haven't tested the limits as far as distance and ability to go thru walls yet. I'm away from my studio for a couple days but when I get back I'll check that out. So far it's been amazing for use as a transport and the mouse pointer thingy's a little tricky but I'm getting used to.
One other thing, there's this freeware program called "lupe" that is a magnifier for your screen that's user adjustable so I'll be able to see the monitor (one section at a time) from across the room. Bye for now,Pete

So, does it require line-of-sight or is it RF-based? This looks VERY cool!

Okay, here's the scoop- it works up to about 25 feet, it works thru windows but not walls . It's great if you're engineering and playing on the same session for the ease of staying at your instrument that's away from the board. The keyboard comes with a sensor that hooks up USB and has about a three foot chord. You could probably get an extension and place the sensor in a separate room. Hope all this is helpful.

Heads up...

My wireless keyboard came with some software to associate some of the keyboard buttons to websites, etc. Suddenly I started experiencing wierdness in PTLE (the grabber tool would suddenly turn into the magnifier tool and my transport would get locked in loop play - also the Show/Hide tracks became unselectable). I discovered that the keyboard had an app running behind the scenes. Stomped it out in MSCONFIG and my problems/wierdness went away.

FYI.

ps

So far no probs- thanks for the heads up- I've kept away from programming the "hot" keys- Keeping it very simple- I'll update later about how it goes.

Just bought it. There is 16 full programmable keys for keystroke (limited to one keystroke), application launch, etc.

I re-programmed some keys (like play/stop, rewind, forward, record, etc.) It works perfectly and it is wonderful to lay down guitar parts as you can stand far enough to get rid of monitor hum. I can also control protools from my drum!

The pointer (similar to the pointer on IMB thinkpad but bigger) is almost useless as it is to fast or to slow for most operation. But it is more convenient than nothing when you're away from your mouse.
