How do you now import MP3s into pro tools 12.8.3?

I have seen that Pro tools stopped using Quicktime for mP3 importing. How do you import mp3s now, if at all ?

Same as any other audio file. You can drag and drop directly into protools on a Audio track or drag into the Track list to create a new track.

Nothing has changed in 12.8.3 from previous versions with importing as far as I'm aware?

Maybe you are using the Import Audio dialogue so try above!

Make sure you go to Preferences/Processing and tick the "Automatically Copy Files On Import" option. It is off by default which can be a right royal pain in the buttocks as you scramble around looking for files which are missing from the Session.

Also, usually drag from browser never happens on the first attempt for some reason? Second drag usually functions AOK

A customer sent me an mp.2 which I converted to a mp3 file and I still can't import it into Protools, but other files are fine. Could it be that it's copyrighted?

By the way, I'm using PT 2021.3.1. Apollo 8p, iMac 2019 5k, if this matters. All the correct Preference buttons are checked also.

Firstly, BAD idea converting MP2 to MP3 to then import into Pro Tools. You’re going from one lossy codec to another. Convert it to WAV.

If you can con we the file type, I very much doubt there’s any file protection in place. Unsure what your problem is, but I would start with trying to import the WAV file into PT. If that doesn’t work, something is VERY wrong.
