HOW do I get 8 ADAT channels into PT as 8 mono signals???
I have done this successfully before but for some reason I am failing to achieve it again. I have a few projects that are currently ON ADAT tape . . . I want to use the optical inputs on the back of the Digi 001 and work on them in Pro Tools.
I don't know how to set my inputs to achieve this every time. Not for the first 8 channels and not for the second 8 either. There's gotta be something I'm missing, because it worked great before!! Thanks Guys-Jhon

If you click on the input display for each track, you should be able to select the individual optical inputs. For stereo tracks, you'll see them as stereo inputs.

Re: HOW do I get 8 ADAT channels into PT as 8 mono signals???
Everytime I think I have it set up right, and I do understand that it has to be set up as 8 mono channels, the computer always tells me that I have "more than one channel with the same name" or something like that, and after I name them all differently , , , a simple abcdefg . . . and so on, I wind up getting all the channels to have the same signal on them!! I hate to say it, but in this particular case, I think I need to know EXACTLY what it's supposed to look like. I keep on failing at this over and over again!! What gives??! ha ha

Re: HOW do I get 8 ADAT channels into PT as 8 mono signals???
Jhon, start over. Create a "NEW SESSION". Before you name and save the session, make sure the I/O set up says stereo. Match the bit rate, etc. then save it. Now create 8 "MONO" audio tracks. For track 1, select ADAT Optical #9 as the input, track 2 select ADAT optical #10, and so on. Inputs 9-16 are the ADAT optical inputs. If you don't see these as your choices, go to Setups/hardware and make sure that ADAT is selected as the optical source. Good luck, hope this helps.

Re: HOW do I get 8 ADAT channels into PT as 8 mono signals???
As usual, I gotta go "try it out" (on the other computer . . . no internet viruses are gonna affect MY Pro Tools computer . . . no modem!!) Thanks fellas and I will report back with either success or more whining!!

sounds to me like you need to reset your i/o setup.
create a new session, select setup>io setup and click default. remember to set protools to optical sync when bouncing from ADAT ~matt |

You may have set the ADAT lightpipe to be the SP/DIF in/out?
